I think the question at this point is how much of the last hundred and nine chapters were just hallucination. Either that, or her black blood will save her, and we'll get to see Crazy Maka again. I really doubt she's dead, though. The chapter would have ended with her turning to ribbons and the camera showing her soul if she was.

What do you think?

I think Soul is going to work some black blood magic and save her. Maybe ending with them finally getting together? I don't think it is a hallucination. I think, next chapter, Maka will be limp in the black blood room with Soul.

I'd be willing to bet that you're right. Another dancing sequence is also not out of the question.

Or another "Maka plays the piano and there is a giant explosion."

A friend of mine thinks it's one of Blackstar's shadow clones that got hit, but like the hallucination theory that is too anticlimactic.

I don't think it was a hallucination.

My newest idea is that Soul will sacrifice his sanity for Maka and she will then have to bring him back like he brought her back. Possibly leading to a SoMa moment? Maybe? Please?

Ok. So to combine your original with this, Soul will find Maka in the Black Room, unconscious or otherwise unreachable. The Little Demon will offer him her life for his soul, and Soul will do the obvious.

Have you read the Beloved Helpless? This is starting to end the same way it is. At one point, Maka lost it and Soul had to rescue her, but she was, instead of in the black room, her room from when she was a small child. It was an interesting piece. At the end, Dr. Stein started to dissect Maka, quitting in the middle, and left Maka bleeding out. Soul traded his soul for her life, and then Maka fights the final battle with her father.
